Helio in his teens was feisty feisty feisty. More than we could handle at some points, he really did have some close to nuclear moments. Every time we would arrive back home after some time out, Helio would come rushing to the door to greet us, and scream for attention and cuddles. Without fail, I cannot think of any time he didn’t come running to greet us except for these few exceptions. A true master planner, during this period Helio somehow kept managing to get into the treat bags. First it was opening the pantry door, then it was both opening and jumping from the kitchen counter to the higher shelves of the cupboard. When he would sneak into the bags of treats, he very well knows he shouldn’t be. When we arrive home, we immediately notice how Helio isn’t running to us, but he’s shyly peeking from a corner, and as we walk closer past the kitchen, we can see the ripped open bag of treats. Of course, this results in a scolding, but we find it very hilarious how he knows he’ll be in trouble. My Mom always says he is the exact same as a toddler would behave. As he grew older, so did our preventative methods of keeping food securely out of his reach. I have no doubt that given the opportunity, he would absolutely make a run for the treat bag again.
